 ABOUT THE TITLE
Possibly the first business parable of Pakistan, Pukh Theory by Farhad Karamally and Faraz
Khan revolves around ‘finding the Pukhs’ where the Pukh (donkey) is regarded to be ‘One’s alternate in personal and professional lives’. The story gets shape as the two protagonists, Danial Khan and Lala, meet each other. Danial is a young entrepreneur who runs a company and whose company is making sound progress while Lala is a road-side donkey-cart runner. As the readers read through, they are inclined to be awed by Lala’s strategies of training younger donkeys besides having older ones to run the cart; eventually we see Danial being completely inspired by Lala’s wit. The big question was about Danial’s staff (employees) at the office; they lacked team spirit, refused to co-ordinate, paid no regard to the company’s mission statement, and this was the reason of Danial’s obvious discomfort.
According to the theory presented in this book, it is mandatory for organizations to inject Communication Skills, Empathy and Personal-Development Skills into people who have recently been hired; then, they can be trained to acquire the Technical Skills. This, as opined by the authors, would lead to a refreshing atmosphere at the workplace, thus promising better performances by individuals.
