 ABOUT THE TITLE
This book is divided into ten thematic parts which are complementary to one another. These parts include education in context policy issues teacher education teaching practices curriculum and materials school home language issues research evaluation and assessment and innovative practices. A common strand in all the articles is an emphasis on reflection an invitation to revisit and rethink our educational beliefs. For practicing teachers the essence of reflection is constantly thinking about the aim of education, their own teaching practices, students’ outcomes and trying to brig about a positive change in students’ lives who could then contribute to bring a change at societal level. teachers in Pakistan are working in far from ideal conditions. There are constraints of different sorts but the message this book tries to get across is that with dedication hard work reflection and innovation a teacher can contribute in a more effective manner even in challenging context.

AUTHOR: Shahid Siddiqui obtained his Ph. D in Language Education from University of Toronto Canada M. Ed TESOL from university of Manchester U. K and M. A English from university of Punjab. He has been involved with educational system of Pakistan in various capacities i.e as a teacher teacher educator and researcher. He is a member of National Committee on English Language reforms set up by HEC. He has worked in prestigious educational institutions of Pakistan including the Aga Khan Universities GIK Institute of engineering sciences and technology and Lahore university of management sciences (LUMS). Currently he is working as Professor an Director Centre for Humanities & Social Sciences at Lahore School of Economics.
